It’s Time For A Change – Designer Redesigns Starbucks’ Cup
Matthieu Martigny is a big fan of Starbucks coffee, apart from being an illustrator and graphical designer living in Reims, France. Particularly, he likes drinking a cup at Starbucks every now and then. The American coffeehouse chain and first time in Lahore, Pakistan introduced Starbucks by Options Coffee and More. Coffee company’s cups have always been a blank canvas to inspire illustrators and artists.
The minimalist look of the branding products at Starbucks inspired Matthieu to redesign the cups as if to give the brand a new identity. On one hand, he has created a set of flat icons and placed them all over the cup, using only two colors: green and black.
For the other part of this project, he has done a much more colorful set of two illustrations, featuring a happy cupcake and a happy croissant, with a splash of color in the background. While many believe that Starbucks’ cups should remain blank to serve as an inspiration for the rest of artists out there, wouldn’t it be cool to have these for a seasonal back to school theme?
